Freedom: The motto of the Fleurop-Interflora World Cup

“Freedom” is the motto of this year’s World Cup of Florists. The floral designs created for this competition are to associate strongly with this weighty term.

The motto for the Fleurop-Interflora World Cup 2015 is “Freedom”. Participants from a total of 26 different nations are called upon to use their workpieces to illuminate the term “Freedom” from a variety of perspectives. And true to the motto, there are no limits on the creative approach.

The day-to-day striving to realize freedom and responsibility is a central theme all over the world. From a historical perspective, the city of Berlin has a special role to play as the Fleurop-Interflora World Cup venue. At the end of the Second World War, the city was divided. On both sides of the wall, the people experienced restrictions on their freedom in different ways. All this changed in 1989 with the fall of the Berlin wall. After 40 years of German division, all of Germany experienced what it means when, all of a sudden, possibilities are unbounded. Freedom doesn’t come in little bits; freedom must always be absolute—100%. The quest for freedom inspires the imagination, breaks down walls, and overcomes borders. This exceptional force is to be the inspiration for the contestants at the World Cup 2015, who we can expect to release their artistic potential in masterly fashion.

Three fascinating championship tasks have to be completed between 11 and 13 June in Berlin. The titles 100% personal, 100% hand-made and 100% organic quickly make it clear which different approaches are available with freedom as a theme. The first championship task is all about the personality of the finalists. Free of the compulsion to observe rules or conventions, the individual workpieces should reflect the different facets of their characters. The second task requires the creation of a revolutionary bouquet that is striking, unique, and never before seen. Task three relates to freedom by reduction. All of the contestants are required to avoid using any materials that are not recyclable. This is all about creating a 100% organic floral design that is free of floral foam, wire, or metal.

Spectators and media representatives can look forward to a spectacular competition, which will unite creativity, cultural influence and masterly handicraft from all around the world.
